Checking for Understanding

As part of our Tier 1 Site Plan development the ILT has reviewed our school discussion from a few weeks back and compared our ideas with the best components of RTI and we have decided that we will focus our attention for Tier 1 instruction on Checking for Understanding throughout the lesson.  This is a critical aspect of the Gradual Release of Responsibility instructional model.  Here is a rubric created by Doug Fisher and Nancy Frey that articulates in detail what quality Checking for Understanding looks like.
