I was in Robin Jones’ class recently and was reminded of the value of using rich vocabulary in your everyday interactions with students. Her students had come across some perplexing problem and she asked the class, “Was anyone ‘baffled’ by this problem?” Baffled is such a wonderful and useful word for her 3rd graders and became more meaningful in this authentic setting.
